My agency has an office in Ellensburg. I have received complaints, when visiting it, about the Chinook Cycling Club after our last three rides. The complaints have become substantial enough for me to pass them on to the club for consideration. The complaints represent just four people talking to me over this period of time.
The issues include; wreckless riding of the club on the ride, danger to club members, risk of accidents involving community residents, and injuries already sustained by club riders on this ride. One person asked me why we don't close the course.
I maintained that we usually close a course and sanction racing. I added we usually abide by traffic laws, don't use citizen as hazards for exitement and do care about public relations. I replied that our colors have represented positive community participation in the past. I promised to bring this up to the club.
